Make That Mascara Last!

I am sometime skeptical when Pinterest will post something that claims to be an insta-fix for something, but this little trick actually worked!

20130207-063331.jpg

I am obsessed with my Chanel Mascara but I left it in my car one day, and it was just my luck that it was warm that day. By the time I remembered it was too late and the mascara was gummy. As we all know Chanel ain’t cheap so I wanted a cheap fix for this. Pinterest claimed that two or three drops of saline solutions or eye drops would do the trick…. and it! Cheap Chanel Save!! Happy pinning!

Oooooh Sparkly

The nail trend of glitter mania has been around for a minute and I must admit that until now I’ve sort of skipped this gravy train. I always get annoyed when I spend money on glitter polishes that never show up as awesome as they do in the bottle. I was in the Dollar General grocery mart yesterday and spotted these guys for a $1.00 so I figured why not….

I painted the one on the left over my shellac polish, and much to my surprise I love what came out of this little bottle-o-glitter!

Cheap N Spicey

20130120-180022.jpg

Is it just me or do spices and herbs seem to be uber expensive? I really would love to have a fresh herb garden but with my brown thumb I would most likely kill it. I needed some herbs for this potato recipe that I found on The Pioneer Woman (awesome site for cooking) and was about to buy the generic Kroger spice blend, but I really wanted something a little more gourmet. I love going to TJMaxx to find little food goodies so I figured I would check there. Turns out I was in luck because I found that spice bottle for $3.99.

The price tag  says “compare at $6.00” but I bet this would cost about $10.00 at a specialty store.  Happy cooking!

Little Eternities

eringHow adorable is this little dainty eternity band? Thanks to Lauren Conrad I have been obsessed with simple stackable rings. I’m not sure if the stones are real, but its .925 sterling silver and it was only $12.99 with shipping!

ering2I need another ring like I need a hole in my head, but I’m so in love with it that I’m going back for another one in a different color. Don’t worry I won’t be stingy. If your as in love with it as I am you can get one for yourself  here 🙂 Happy Self-Spoiling!

Wen or “Worth It” ?

WenSo I have no problem admitting that I hate my hair. Its kinky, curly, and impossible to to work with. Adding to my hair issues I have been guilty of excessive dying and being irresponsible with my trimming habits. In fact its because of this that hair products are usually one of the very few things I am willing to spend big bucks for. I was using the Wen hair products for awhile and I really loved the way they made my hair feel. I even saw a lot of growth which is a miracle when it comes to my hair. Wen isn’t really that expensive, about $20 bucks for the kit that comes with styling products, but when you order it you have to sign up for the auto refill.  As much as I love that product I don’t need a new bottle of shampoo every 30 days. Let’s leave that to the hoarders out there.

loreal-evercreme-cleansing-conditioner Loreal’s imfamous solgan is “Because I’m Worth It” so I decided to give Loreal’s Ever Creme Cleansing Conditioner a shot.  I was pleasantly surprised at the way my hair felt after using it! Its sulfate free like Wen and its only $5.99 at Target. To be honest, I may go back to Wen eventually because the quality is a little better and I think they may have gotten rid of the auto refill rule. But its good to know there is a cheap alternative out there if I ever need it.

Cheap American Glamour

IMG_1669It is a well known fact that I am often guilty of shopping for myself during Christmas time but to my credit, I have been looking for a trench coat like this for FOREVER!  My sister is a stylist for HSN and they have an outlet store in Florida that is a must on the agenda whenever I visit. The stuff in there is ridiculously marked down and my sister gets an extra 30% because she’s an employee. I was pleasantly surprised to see that HSN is now carrying higher end fashion lines. The trench I scored is American Glamour by Badgley Mishcka.

IMG_1664The minute I saw it I knew that I wasn’t going to leave Florida without it, but I freaked out when I figured out what the price was.

HSN discounts things by the date on the tag, so this coat was something like 40% off and then another 30% with the Big Sis’ discount. I’m useless when it comes to math but in the end it ended up only costing me $17.oo bucks! For Badgley Mischka?? YES PLEASE!

Elvis Has Left The Building

20121210-190158.jpg

Home is truly where the heart is. Sorry that I have been MIA for the past couple of weeks, but I have been busy building a new chapter in my life and I’m so excited!!! Before I get into that let me do this the right way, and say farewell to the last chapter of my life in Memphis. The best word to describe the five years I spent in the land of Elvis would have to be bittersweet. Memphis really taught me a lot about the highs and lows of life. What truly matters, and what should just be chalked up to spilled milk. It seemed as though whenever I was truly in the slums and wishing I had never decided to move there something amazing would happen to me. Some listener would tell me how I made their day by doing what I do. I would find out that I’m going to LA for the Grammys and American Idol. Or I would just so happen to meet some of the most amazing people I have ever encountered and make them my lifelong friends. Memphis for me was always a “calm before the storm” type of experience. My time there was sprinkled with some pain, a little regret, a lot of love, and exciting times that I will never forget. Kind of like most major chapters in life I suppose. And not to mention I did get the greatest furry gift ever while in Memphis, my little P!nk Presley Couture. Dang I love my puppy girl!

Some people say once a Memphian always a Memphian. If you said this to me before I left there I would have scoffed at you!! But now that I am sitting in my brand new apartment in Nashville feeling so blessed…I realize that a  huge part of this is true, even for me. So with that said…Thank you Memphis! You will always have a special place in my heart. So enough of the wah-wah talk. I suppose I should get back to what this blog is truly about…being a CHEAP DIVA. Well let me start with that Home Sweet Home door mat that you see above. I got that sucker at Ross for $6.99! Your probably wondering why I am so excited over a door mat, but seeing as how they run about $15.99 at Walmart you would be excited about that deal too. I mean who likes to spend money on something your going to wipe  mud on? So is it just me or do you get the itch whenever you move you tend to toss the old and look for the new? Well that is exactly what I did with my knife set.

e

I’m not normally a chick that gets excited over cutlery but $30.00 for this stainless steal set makes me happy 🙂  I know I have posted about the deals I’ve scored on Yankee candles at Ross  before, but I figured I would share this because its the holidays….

20121210-190139.jpgI cannot get over how yummy this limited addition holiday candle smells. I light it and five minutes later my whole apartment smells like Christmas! What’s even more yummy is that I payed ten bucks for something that usually costs $26.00.

20121210-190147.jpgOK. So I suppose I could end this post with something mushy, but for me new beginnings and the sentiment that goes along with them usually comes with a lot of boo-hooing ( which I have done plenty of). And we all know that equals…..WRINKLES. No thank you! So for now i’ll just end this one like I always do….

$5 Devil

.So Halloween is usually a bid deal for me when it comes to the selection of my costume, but this year I wasn’t really into spending the money on it. Plus I did’t have any plans so that was ay-ok with me to not have to worry about obsessing over finding the perfect look. Well two days before Halloween I was asked to host a party at Rain Sushi and Bistro so I had to get creative with my costume and my budget. This is what I came up with…

Cute right? The sweet part about this last minute devil deal is that I only spent $5 bucks! I went to Walmart and bought the horns, bow tie, mini pitchfork , and tail…. Yes Tail

Teehee. All of the rest of my outfit was stuff I had in my closet. I’m So glad I didn’t give that pleather skirt that I never wear to Goodwill.

And what a perfect time to bust out with my red suede pumps….never enough occasions for a hot red shoe.

With this Ring….

It is a known fact with me that when I decide that I’m into a certain style I become borderline obsessive about it. My current fashion lust is stackable rings. All of those rings you see in the pic above I already had in my jewelry box but like any good OCD fashion stalker I decided that I had to have just one more.

How gorgeous is this dainty little ring I found on ETSY for $19.00! If your planning on stopping by Etsy be a doll and check out my shop while your at it!  Its called LoveLaceCraftoure. Shameless plug  I know 🙂
