Well, my first color obsession this summer was tangerine and now I think it’s becoming teal/green. I already bought a shirt like this in beige so I felt bad buying another one but this color is just so stinking pretty! Plus the price was right 🙂
And me being the shopaholic that I am I decided to make an outfit for this shirt. First I found this Chinese Laundry belt on clearance for $5.49!
I love how the owl picks up the color in the blouse. Did you notice the shorts in the background yet?
Super comfy and they fit just right! Not too long, not too short, and give the booty a nice boost. Pretty much a steal for $13.99. On to the shoes….
Another Chinese Laundry find for only $12.99. Normally these run around $39.00 bucks. The blue in the strap is another little touch that goes well with the shirt. You know “Ya gotta Coooooordintae”. LOL yes I just made a Coming To America movie reference 🙂
Can you tell that tangerine has been my color obsession for my summer wardrobe? Both of these tops are super cute right? Great color, great fabric, great detail in the back…..
But there is one very big difference between them and I bet you can guess what I’m going to say. Actually let me back up. I bet you can’t tell which one was the more expensive. I’ll give you a second to ponder this one…………………..Ready? The one on the left was $7.99 at Ross. Of course.
The top on the right came from a boutique that will remain nameless because I actually really like their stuff and they have a good selection of things you normally can’t find anywhere else. Anyhoo…it was $34.99. I also bought a pair of earrings to go with it that were $16.99.
I actually would pay $16.99 for these all day long because they are great quality and I got about a million compliments on them. So for these two things with tax it I spent around $55 bucks. Challenge time! Let’s see if I can do a little better with $55 smacker-roos. Off to the shopping haven I call Ross! Lets start with the basics.
I am a sucker for a basic V-Neck white tee and at $4.99 I’m game. I still had more time and money so I kept going.
I love summer shorts that have a little bit more length to them so I’m not showing off my booty cheeks to random people. LOL. These guys were on clearance for $6.99. Off to the next!
Super cute black club shorts for $8.99? Yes please! As and amendment to my previous comment about booty showing, shorter shorts can be ok in the right occasions. Just as long as the cheeks are covered. Next…
I love the color and the flowy detail of this top and the fabric is pretty awesome too. At $8.99 I was still under budget so it’s upward and onward people!
You would not believe how friggin hard it is to find a basic pair of black flip flops that are not cheap plastic and don’t cost a zillion dollars. Let me tell you, these flippy-floppied we’re only $8.99 and are super comfy. So after ALL that the grand total came to around $49.00! Under budget! Yay! So for for a cool fifty it’s this….
Or this!
Happy bargain hunting! MAY THE SHOPPING GODS BE EVER IN YOUR FAVOR! 🙂
Sorry for the blurry picture. I was trying to take this while wrapping the fiance’s birthday presents in my closet. There is something I have noticed that every woman inherits when she gets the ring on her finger. That is the divine right to have the sole responsibility of buying her man all of his underwear, socks, gloves, ties, and anything else that a dude doesn’t want to bother to shop for. Not that I mind. I would rather buy him these things than see him looking like Al Bundy with holes in his under-roos. The fiance is a really tough guy to shop for because he doesn’t really ask for much, and when he does ask nine times out of ten it’s something difficult to find. Again, not that I mind. I never shy way from a good shopping challenge. This year a pair of nice leather driving gloves was on the birthday list. I knew I was in trouble when I heard this request because the fiance has big hands that won’t fit most gloves. Plus a good pair of men’s leather gloves can run you $60-$100.
After I rummaged through about 50 pairs of gloves and made quite the mess at TJMaxx I found these. They have cashmere lining on the inside and looked just big enough to fit the fiance’s paws. They were originally priced at $60.00, which I was willing to pay because to me even that was a steal. But nope $20.00 bucks is all I spent 🙂
This is the way be brush out teeth, brush our teeth, brush our teeth. This is the way we brush our teeth. Early in the morning! Haha! Sorry. I’m not really sure why that little random song just popped into my head while I was typing but you know how it is. Good deals get me giddy. I was in Kroger last night shopping for my usual $5.99 vibrating toothbrush when the fiance pointed out that I should just get a Sonicare. He has one and he swears by it. If I’m honest I have always secretly wanted one but did he really expect me to spend $80 on a toothbrush? Low and behold they were on sale for Kroger card members.
It was friggin $45.00 off! Ok then, if I’m ever going to get a Sonicare then now was the time. Yay for clean teeth!
Don’t you just love our new couch! The fiance and I got to upgrade our apartment to a three bedroom so we could have more space. You know what that means. New space means new stuff! Our old apartment was nice but it looked a little hodge-podge because the decor was a strange mix if his stuff and my stuff that didn’t really mesh well. So we went to browse for a new couch not really expecting to really find anythig within our budget. We though MAYBE we would find a chaise lounge to put in the sun room. Oh we did.
I just love it! Ashley Furniture Home Store has a place off of Summer Ave. that they do their warehouse liquidations. Basically they sell the floor models that have been slightly damaged for crazy discounts. When we stumbled up this couch we couldn’t find anything wrong with it so we figured it was too expensive. The guy that sold it to us had a cold that must have gone to his head because we got it for $500 bucks! When I heard that number I was baffled. I’m thinking surely he means to sell us just part of the sectional. Nope, all four pieces for a measly five hundred. Ashley Furniture sells a similar one in their regular store for somewhere around $2000! Yeeeeeaaaaaah buddy!
How gorgeous is this 1940’s vintage necklace?!? The picture doesn’t even begin to do it justice. I’m a sucker for anything vintage and I love the grey-ish blue colors of the pearls. The last time the fiance and I went to visit his family in Louisiana I dragged him to the antique shops in town. He’s such a good egg 🙂 Anyhoo…we went into this little shop that had mostly furniture so I wasn’t expecting to find anything good. In the back of the store I found a case with a lot of jewelry that was mostly just meh…..then I the fiance spotted this goody. I just love him. Haha, ok I’ll stop being mushy. The the tag said $40 on the box but the lady was willing to give it to us for $15! I’m thinking well hells yea!!! That’s when these caught my eye…..
Instant love! While I was gushing over them the fiance pulled out his inner cheap divo and said “Can we get them both for $20?” Gawd he’s good (last one I swear). So we got both of these vintage pieces for a quick $20 bucks. But then………dun-dun-dun. I was trying them on with an outfit at home and I broke the fragile hinge that holds the dangley part of the earring. I was so crushed! I wasn’t sure if they could be fixed because they are so old and I didn’t want to spend an arm and a leg to put them back together. But if there is one jeweler I trusted to take them to its my friend Ed Harris. Anytime I need ring sizing or any custom work I go to him 🙂 Not to mention he did my engagement ring along with quite a few other sparklers in my jewelry case. Sure enough his in house guy was able to fix them. They even shined them up!
I didn’t even know you could do that with vintage stuff! Thankx Ed! Click on his name about if you want to view his stuff!
Rock Revivals are by far my all time favorite brand of jeans. However, I’m not such a fan of the price even if they are worth it. They usually run about $140-$170 bucks. I went the mall today to visit a friend of mine that works in Dillards. Mind you I had no intention of shopping until I saw these guys with a sign about them that said 40% off the lowest price!
They were the last pair of this style and they were my size! After I asked the sales chick what price they would be after tax I couldn’t walk away!
I only payed $72.76 for a $148 pair of jeans! SCORE!
I was ultra excited when I saw the saw that this new store Love Culture was coming to the mall!! To be honest I had never heard of it but with a name like that it was at least worth a little look-see. At first glance inside the store I got a little fashion tourette syndrome with how many things there were to look at. Plus I wasn’t exactly sure what I was looking for. But I did a little digging and came up this this little number.
I love how this skirt hugs my booty! And for $12 bucks I wasn’t putting it back once I had my hands on it. I don’t normally go for this type of top because I’m small in the rib cage and they don’t tend to fit me well. But the sweetheart neckline looked nice and I’m trying a lot of new things lately.
The fiance took this pic with his Iphone before we went downtown to celebrate my 30th with friends. For him to do this without me prompting him is a rarity so when he does you know it’s a good look 🙂 .To celebrate the big 3-0 I knew I wanted something different and of course hot! And to be honest at first glace this dress was not what I was going for. I normally have a rule to avoid slut-ville….show either the boobs or the legs. Well this dress sure threw out the rule book because it showed the boobs, the legs, and THE BACK!
When I showed it to my fiance in the store it was the only dress out of seven that he dubbed as hot. Plus he raised his eyebrows and nodded his head (always a good sign). So I tried it on and it fit like a glove. Actually more like sausage casing but I thought WFT…if I can still pull it off and he loves it why not! Not gonna let all those damn back exercises at the gym be in vain!
Haha! I have to say that I smirked a little bit when a girl said she had the same dress because she got hers in Spain. Can’t even imagine what that must have cost her! I got mine at Ross for $12.99!
Gotta love birthday deals! A girl has to be frugal in her old age 🙂
When I first introduced my fiance to my cheap ways he was appalled! My apologies for the Cheap Diva humor :). I’m a bit of a nerd from time to time. But seriously though, the first time I took him to one of my favorite discount stores he turned his nose up immediately and said that it looked like a garage sale. Low and behold a year and a half later….I’ve turned him into a Cheap Divo! I was so proud when he went shopping for a new pair of jeans and brought these Rock Revivals home!
He usually wears MEK so I was surprised when he jumped ship. I was even more surprised when I saw the receipt. He only paid $59.99 for them! The tag says they retail at $120 but they are actually more like $160. I have a few pairs in my closet that I payed full price for. Can u smell the envy? There are few things that I am willing to spend a lot of money on but I LOVE the way Rock Revival’s fit. Plus they keep their integrity after a few million washes. Needless to say my honey did well with this find! I Love my man and his newly found frugal ways 🙂 ( Just kidding babe )
